Our Commitment to
Your Anonymity
The privacy of our subscribers is our number one priority. You can read more about that in our legal fine print. Here’s how works in simple terms:
The power of Your MarketMetrics is in the ability to see how other, similar firms are performing in comparison to you (and – importantly – how YOU are comparing to your own performance over time). However, NO data within the Your MarketMetrics system has company names assigned to it. When you initially subscribe to Your MarketMetrics, you will be assigned a firm ID # for the purposes of anonymizing your data. From that point forward, the only information that identifies your DATA is your Firm ID #, and you can change that Firm ID # at any time. The index cross-referencing firm names to ID#s are not housed within the yourmarketmetrics.com online platform.
Who WON’T See Your Data
ONLY companies operating in the industry segment being measured are eligible for subscriptions. So, you should have no worries about press or suppliers getting access. We love the press and suppliers – but this is 100% an industry-powered platform. If you don’t have #s of your own to share, you can’t join the site. No exceptions.
So, Who Will “See” My Company’s Data?
There are two types of data that exist for each subscriber: Raw Data and Calculated Metrics.
Your raw data is submitted and utilized internally, for accurately calculating the output comparison metrics (in ratios or percentages.) Your raw data – and your own performance over time – is visible only to you (on your ‘Company View’ dashboard).
The ‘Industry Comparison’ dashboard is where the calculated metrics (anonymized by Firm ID#) are viewed by all participating firms. Where appropriate, the experts may add filters (e.g., business type or size, operating region) to help make the data more relevant to subscribers while still preserving anonymity. ANY subscriber will be able to see the calculated metrics by Firm ID #.
We Built a Small Team, On Purpose
Finally – we intentionally built a very small team to have access to the firm name cross-reference data. Some of the historic resistance to initiatives like these has been the inability to guarantee privacy. We believe that your trust is our most important asset: none of our program partners (e.g., volunteer leaders of our association program collaborators) will have access to the list of firm name and IDs to be able to extrapolate “whose data is whose.”
(In some circumstances, a pre-existing peer group may come to us and ask them to build out a private comparison board JUST for them in addition to the general industry board, which we’re happy to do. They will in that case know who the others in the group are.)
